Celebrate World Down Syndrome Day 2025 by Donating Socks

Celebrate World Down Syndrome Day 2025 by donating new socks, any size any color. Socks will be collected on Monday, March 17 through Friday, March 21

On March 21, wear blue and yellow clothing and/or crazy socks to help raise awareness for Down syndrome.

#lotsofsocks is used on World Down Syndrome Day because chromosomes are shaped like socks. Since those with Down syndrome carry an extra chromosome, three socks are a great symbol for the day. Students can get serious about rocking kindness that day by donating socks to families in need in honor of people with Down syndrome who always rock the extra chromosome and kindness.

Socks are the least donated clothing item yet the most in demand for needy local families. The lack of decent footwear is not just a matter of having cold feet, it can lead to health issues that include infection, frostbite and diabetes-induced swelling. Health issues aside, a new clean pair of socks can also provide a sense of dignity and respect.
