Pine-Richland Musicians and Singers Selected for PMEA Events

Eden Hall Upper Elementary School hosted the PMEA District 1 Elementary String Fest on March 27, welcoming 120 students from around the region, including 11 Eden Hall students: fifth-graders Penny Budzisz and Matthew Keller on bass; sixth-graders Juls Elardo, Sophia Simon, and Amelia Willis on violin; 6th graders Ashmi Chatterjee, Lucia O'Malley; and Allen Yang on viola, and sixth-graders Sydney Campbell, Cora Hurt, and Robert Zeng on cello.

Senior Ryan Noir and sophomore Zoey Campbell participated in the PMEA Western Regional Orchestra on March 7 at Heinz Hall. Both students qualified for PMEA All-State Orchestra in April. This will be Ryan's second straight year participating in the all-state event.

Senior Sophia Priore, juniors Karcher Dosch and Avi Sasso, and sophomore Zoey Campbell (first chair) qualified for PMEA All-State Choir, to be held April 22-25. This is the largest number of students Pine-Richland has ever sent to All-State Choir. Sophia also becomes only the fourth student in Pine-Richland history to earn an invitation to All-State Choir three times.

Sophomores Zoey Campbell and Juliette Pala, juniors Karcher Dosch, Raegan Dosch and Avi Sasso, and seniors Davin Biagini, Giuliana DeRenzo, Josh Oklejewski and Sophia Priore auditioned for and were selected to perform at the PMEA District 1 Chorus Festival at McKeesport High School on January 8-9. Zoey, Juliette, Karcher, Avi, Giuliana, Josh, and Sophia were selected to perform in the PMEA Region I Choir held February 19-21.

Juniors Noah Ezolt (tenor saxophone) and Alex Goss (trumpet) and sophomore Lily Orellana (piano) were selected to perform with the PMEA District 1 Jazz Band following their audition on October 27. The Honors Jazz Festival was held December 12 and 13 at Seton Hill University Performing Arts Center.

Four Pine-Richland High School students were selected to perform in the 2025 PMEA Honors String Orchestra Festival: senior Morgan Radi, junior Eleanor DeMann and sophomores Zoey Campbell and Anamaria Pomirleanu. The festival was held at North Allegheny Senior High School on November 15-16, 2025.

Five Pine-Richland students earned placement in PMEA All-State events:

  • Senior Mackenzie Mercuri and junior Sophia Priore, PMEA All-State Choir
  • Senior Thomas DeVito (first-chair trumpet) and junior Ashlyn Casale, PMEA All-State Band
  • Junior Ryan Noir (first-chair clarinet), PMEA All-State Orchestra

This is Sophia's second time participating in PMEA All-State Choir. The PMEA Annual Conference will be held April 9-12 in the Poconos.

Seniors Thomas DeVito and Will Tamburri and juniors Ashlyn Casale and Ryan Noir were selected to play in the PMEA Region 1 Band on March 8. Ashlyn and Thomas were selected to advance to the PMEA All-State Band in April, with Thomas earning first chair trumpet in the region.

Six Eden Hall sixth graders were selected to participate in the PMEA Elementary String Fest at Plum Area High School on February 28: Andreea Pomirleanu (violin), Maia Oberst (violin), Maria Bloom (violin), Maddie Watton (viola), Aubrey Szymanski (viola) and Maria Cerny (cello).

Juniors Ryan Noir (clarinet) and Morgan Radi (viola) were selected to participate in the 2025 PMEA Western Region Orchestra on February 22 at Richland High School Performing Arts Center in Johnstown. Ryan placed first clarinet in the region and now advances to the PMEA All-State Orchestra in April.

Eleven Pine-Richland High School students performed at the PMEA District 1 Choir at Mt. Lebanon High School February 6 and 7: seniors Claire Dosch and Mackenzie Mercuri, juniors Brooke Deegan, Josh Oklejewski, Sophia Priore and Katelyn Rickard, and sophomores Karcher Dosch, Raegan Dosch, Loren Prisuta, Allie Rishel and Avi Sasso. Brooke, Claire, Karcher, Raegan, Mackenzie, Josh, Sophia, Loren, Katelyn and Avi all qualified for the PMEA Region 1 Choir that will be held March 19-21 at Waynesburg University. This is the second-highest number of students in Pine-Richland history to qualify for region choir.

Seniors Lilliana Bogle (bassoon), Thomas DeVito (trumpet) and William Tamburri (horn); juniors Ashlyn Casale (flute), Jiwon Li (clarinet), and Ryan Noir (clarinet); and sophomore Alex Goss (trumpet) successfully auditioned to participate in the PMEA District 1 West Band Festival held January 25 at Hampton High School under the direction of guest conductor Dr. Cheldon Williams, who is the associate director of bands and director of athletic bands at West Virginia University.

Senior Thomas DeVito, trumpet, was selected to perform in the PMEA District 1 Honors Jazz 1 Ensemble. The jazz ensemble performed as part of the Honors Jazz Festival at Franklin Regional High School on December 13 and 14.

Four Pine-Richland High School students successfully auditioned for the PMEA District 1 Honors Band: senior Thomas DeVito, trumpet, juniors Ashlyn Casale, flute, Jiwon Li, clarinet, and Ryan Noir, clarinet, and sophomore Alex Goss, trumpet. Nearly 700 students from Western Pennsylvania auditioned for the honors band festival that was held November 22-24 at North Hills High School.
